Aiko, my sister's doll, needed a
change of elastic strings. As I hardly see the doll,
I just didn’t know in which
condition her string was until I saw
it a few days ago. I analyzed the
doll in more detail and I found out where the problem was: it
was too tense. The doll is
3rd hand and the
girl who sold us made a frightening
strings tension on it. The
poor doll
had her elastic strings as tense that her
stand was really bad,
it was very difficult to make her standing up because she bent a
lot. Even one of her legs
and arms were constantly bent, so I bought new
elastic strings and got to
work last week with the help of my mother.
A Aiko, la muñeca de mi hermana, le hacía falta un cambio de gomas. Como apenas veo a la muñeca,
no sabía en qué estado estaba actualmente su tensado hasta que hace unos días,
pude analizar la muñeca con más detalle y vi dónde estaba el problema: estaba
demasiado tensa. La muñeca es de 3ª mano y la chica que nos la vendió le hizo
un tensado que daba miedo. La pobre muñeca tenía las gomas tan tensas que no
posaba nada bien, era dificilísimo mantenerla de pie y se le doblaba mucho una
de las piernas y los brazos se le doblaban constantemente, así que compré gomas
nuevas y me puse manos a la obra la semana pasada con la ayuda de mi madre.
It took quite time to change the elastic strings because of a series of unexpected facts... To start, the strings from her legs didn’t
stretched. I’m still wondering how that girl managed to tense as much the strings and put both feet on the doll because there was no way to remove the feet, so I had to take scissors and cut the strings as I could with the help of my mother. Another problem was that the body isn’t divided into two pieces and therefore is more difficult to put the strings into those small holes and ensure that knots are inside the body and, finally, the head doesn't have a hook, but an earring. From all tutorials which I’ve read to
guide me on how to restring, I did not find any for this type of bodies. Anyway, we managed quite well despite that we had to estimate by eye the size of the strings because as I’ve said earlier, the ones she had were too tense for being short.
Costó bastante cambiarle las gomas por una serie de imprevistos… Para
empezar, las gomas de las piernas no daban de sí. Aún me pregunto cómo se las
arregló la chica para tensar tanto esas gomas y ponerle los pies porque no
había manera de quitarle los pies, así que
tuve que coger las tijeras y cortar la goma como pude con ayuda de mi
madre. Otro inconveniente es que el cuerpo no está partido en dos y por lo
tanto, es algo más complicado meter las gomas en esos agujeros tan pequeños y
procurar que los nudos queden dentro del cuerpo y, para terminar, en la cabeza
no tiene gancho, sino un arito y de todos los tutoriales que miré para guiarme
en cómo se hace el tensado, no encontré ninguno para este tipo de cuerpos. De
todas formas nos las apañamos bastante bien a pesar de que tuvimos que calcular
a ojo el tamaño de las gomas porque como he dicho antes, las que tenía puestas
estaban demasiado tensas por ser cortas.
Now the doll poses perfectly, she can sit with no problems and holds standing. She also holds her arms up and fully extended; poses which didn’t previously held because the tension was so beast. The only problem still is with the hands, the hooks seem to be rather large and are somewhat loose, especially one of them. We'll find the solution to this problem.
Ahora la muñeca posa perfectamente, puede sentarse sin problemas y se
mantiene en pie. También aguanta con los brazos en alto y completamente estirados,
poses que antes no mantenía por el tensado tan bestia que tenía. El único
problema que sigue teniendo es con las manos, los ganchos parecen ser algo
grandes y quedan algo sueltas, sobretodo una de ellas. Ya encontraremos la
solución a este problema.
